December 1954, Indústrias Químicas Taubaté S.A - IQT was established in a small laboratory building.

1955, just one year after foundation, the company commenced production of textile auxiliaries using proprietary technology and developing a line of detergent related products.

1958, in order to cope with the state of the art technology to meet the increasing demand for the water base paint and adhesive market, IQT purchased its first polymerization reactor located at the Parque das Indústrias (Industrial Park) and production of PVA begun using Vinyl Products Ltd. Technology.




60`S

Early 60’s, IQT started producing acrylic and styrene-acrylic emulsions.

1964, IQT started the second manufacturing unit for production of plasticizers for PVC manufacture and introduced its line of phtalic esters employing Lankro Chemicals Ltd technology.

1965, IQT started making epoxy soy oil with proprietary technology.

1967, the company set up the Research and Development Department aimed at meeting the country’s impending reality needs. It increased production in polymer formulation opening new market gates. The R & D Department has been successful not only in the line of polymers by adding lines of vinylics, acrylics, styrene acrylics, styrene butadiene, but also launching new products such as phenolic resines and furan resines for casting applications.




70`S

1976 , IQT took a major step by expanding its Research Center facilities to consolidate its position as chemical specialties manufacturer; 1978, it started making the first chemical specialties for cosmetics, photographic film stock, food stuff, etc.



80`S

1981 , IQT started developing the styrene-butadiene latex for rugs, carpets, paper, footware and other special applications, which started production in 1982. Meanwhile, the company set out to enhance its fine chemistry activities.

1983, IQT started making pharmaceutical and chemical products borrowing know-how from GETEC - Guanabara Química Industrial S.A. 1987, it entered a license agreement with Merck Sharp & Dohme for making alpha-methyldopa that has strengthened its knowledge of GMP – “Good Manufacture Practices”.




90`S

Early 90's, 1993, the SBE latex plant was expanded for the first time.



21ST CENTURY

The new century has seen great changes and achievements.

2003, IQT has undergone a key shareholder change when Enerquímica Empreendimentos e Participações joined the partnership gaving IQT a fresh impetus to make new investments in infrastructure and new business to further solidify IQT development capabilities.

The company expanded the SBE latex plant, the pharmaceutical chemical product line, and invested, bought assest in manufacturing technologies for a wide range of pharmaceutical and chemical products for human and veterinary applications.

IQT is awarded numerous certifications – in addition to the NBR ISO 9001:2000 standard, it is a NBR ISO 14001:1996, OHSAS 18001:1999 standard certified company and is involved with the ABIQUIM Programa de Atuação Responsável (Responsible Care Program). The company has abode by its principles addressing environment impact issues, investing in facilities and training to qualify its personnel in the effective operation of environment protection systems and equipment.

Today , the company has gathered a select research and development team made up of 16 professionals including 4 PhD degree and 2 MA degree engineers in addition to chemists, engineers, designers, high level technicians, and pilot reactor operators, supplying products to a wide range of industries and pharmaceutical laboratories.

To celebrate this major change moment, the company is launching its new logo which depicts IQT firmness, growth and modernity with colors that highlights the distinctively Brazilian character organization.
